March 13th, 2006 found four local Civil Air Patrol cadets far from their home country, in a hangar on the other side of the equator. C/2d Lt Daniel Freeman, C/2d Lt Stephen Freeman, C/SSgt Patrick Freeman, C/TSgt Kelcee Griffis, members of Gainesville Composite Squadron, were on a mission trip to Shell, Ecuador.

Group 2 Bivouac Nets First Find for Members | Print |  E-mail

On the weekend of 24-26 February, 21 cadets and 11 senior members from Group 2 attended a joint ES training bivouac near Ocala. The purpose of the weekend event was to get as many people qualified in UDF (Urban Direction Finding) and GTM (Ground Team Mission) as possible. To do so would allow members to participate in missions.

Cadet Cook Wins Grand Prize in History Channel Essay Contest | Print |  E-mail

Cadet Airman Daniel Cook won the Grand Prize in a nationwide essay contest sponsored by The History Channel. Cook, a 12-year-old member of the Gainesville Composite Squadron and homeschool student from Keystone Heights, addressed the question, "Which event in American space history do you think is most important and why?"
