Several members of Gainesville Composite Squadron were presented with awards at the 2008 Florida Wing Conference in Orlando on February 2-4th.  

Gainesville cadets Josh Davidson, Tiffany Jakowczuk and Tim Lhota, who are members of the Florida Wing Color Guard, earned the Lt Col Thomas C. Welch Award by winning the Wing Academic Competition. This panel-quiz style competition covered leadership, aerospace, current events, CAP history and other topics. Gainesville's cadets were 1st out of 18 teams in the competition.

Captain Christian Campbell was awarded a Commander's Commendation and was received the Florida Wing Cadet Programs Circle of Excellence award.  He also received the Garber Award.

Captain Leslie Ballard received the Garber Award.

C/Maj John Samonas  received the Col. Bob Owens Award, as well as a Commander's Commendation.

Commander's Commendations were also presented to Captain Tom Beukelman and Captain Gene Smith.
