The Group 2 Color Guard (Gainesville/Marion County) are the Southeast Region Color Guard Champions! The team, comprised of Gainesville cadets Tim Lhota, Tiffany Jakowczuk and Josh Davidson, and Marion County cadet Sam Dauss, competed yesterday at Patrick AFB against the other Wings in the Region and earned first place. Results were as follows:
Panel Quiz: 1st place (undefeated, including a perfect match against Puerto Rico Wing) Written Exam: 1st place Mile Run: 2nd place (every team member ran his or her best time ever, defeating GA Wing by 2 seconds!) Standard Drill: 1st place Inspection: 2nd place Outdoor Practical Drill: 1st place Indoor Practical Drill: 1st place
In addition, C/Tim Lhota received the award for Highest Written Exam Score (43/50).
C/Tiffany Jakowczuk earned trophies for the 2nd Highest Written Exam Score (42/50), and 2nd highest female mile time.
The team will now represent Southeast Region at the National Cadet Competition, June 26-29 in Dayton, Ohio.
